Evgeni Malkin

crosbymalkinmyspaceOn Wednesday, it was reported that a Sidney Crosby imposter was attempting to raise $3,000 for a park in Minnesota.

Two Pens fans, along with Crosby’s agents, have been working to expose the fraud and seek legal action. As of Wednesday, the woman in charge of the fundraiser, Stephanie Biddlecom, 23, of Minneapolis, said she was $750 short of the $3,000 goal, but if Crosby “has to take it on himself, he will. It’s no killer; $750 is nothing to him.”

Then on Thursday, another report surfaced that an Evgeni Malkin impersonator is also attempting to raise money for the same park.

“Fundraiser es up. Ples mesg fur mur details. Goal is 2,100,” a message read under the heading “Park.”

Even his typing is in broken English. Who knew!

These fundraiser requests from millionaire athletes were obvious scams, but if Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes sends you a friend request asking you to help “rebuild” Patriots Square Park in Phoenix, it’s probably legit.
